The Paphos District Court recently issued a very important decision in relation to a house in the village of Armou, Paphos District, which collapsed due to subsidence. The court awarded the plaintiffs compensation for the purchase price of the house, i.e. €256,000, interest from the date of the claim until the plaintiffs' compensation, and the plaintiffs' costs of €5,000, as well as court costs.

Having being approved by the Cyprus House of Representatives on the 16^th of November 2023, the Law which provides for the Regulation of the Framework for the Organization of Teleworking Law of 2023 [Law 120(I)/2023] (the “Law”) is now in force with effect from 1^st December 2023.

The Law governs the rights and obligations of employers and employees when they agree to teleworking.

On 30.11.2023 the House of Representatives of the Republic of Cyprus voted for an amendment to the Civil Registry Law. Now highly skilled foreign employees of companies of foreign interest may apply for the Cyprus citizenship after their legal stay in Cyprus for 3 or 4 years instead previous 7 tears. The main condition is the knowledge of Greek confirmed by language exam. The applicants who passed the exam for the Level A2 can apply for citizenship after 4 years and the applicants who passed the exam for the Level B1 can apply for the citizenship after 3 years. Such applications will be examined within 8 months and the family members will be able to apply for the citizenship on the same conditions including the condition for Greek language exam.
